Description
A beautifully restored cottage comfortably furnished with all modern amenities. Victoria Cottage has been delighting visitors for over 10 years. Many now return year after year and the comments in our visitor's book provide the best possible recommendation for quality, comfort and value for money.
The cottage has two bedrooms, lounge/dining room, kitchen and bathroom with shower over roll-top bath. The modern fitted kitchen has an integrated refrigerator, freezer, electric oven and halogen hob together with a microwave oven and washer/dryer. Full central heating and constant hot water are provided by a gas-fired boiler and an open coal-effect gas fire gives additional heat in the living room. Wireless broadband connection is provided free of charge
Victoria Cottage is within easy reach of all the museums in this World Heritage village and the iron bridge itself is just a short walk away. The historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgenorth are all within easy driving distance as also are National Trust properties such as Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and the beautiful Bodnant Gardens. Whether your interest is in visiting the Ironbridge museums in this fascinating World Heritage Centre, walking in the beautiful countryside of the Ironbridge Gorge or touring more widely in this most lovely part of the country, Victoria Cottage will provide an ideal base.
And when you get back to the cottage at the end of the day you can relax in the comfortable living room, sip a glass of wine on the patio or pop next door for a delicious meal at the oldest pub in Ironbridge. First licensed in 1728 the Golden Ball provides a wide range of traditional ales, excellent food in the bar or restaurant and the warmest of welcomes for visitors. Or of course you could try any of the 20 or so other superb pubs and restaurants that are within walking distance of the cottage!
Ironbridge itself is a unique holiday location which provides a wealth of interest for visitors of all ages and at all seasons of the year. Locally, the award winning Ironbridge gorge museums are of course the highlight. These ten museums give a fascinating insight into the history of a Shropshire valley which in many ways laid the foundation for the modern world. For the children we recommend particularly Enginuity (where visitors are encouraged to exercise the imagination, play games, build bridges, generate electricity and discover how every day objects are designed) and the Blists Hill open air Victorian Village.
Other attractions always popular with our visitors include the Acton Scott Victorian Farm, Severn Valley Steam Railway and the Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom.
We believe that no other area can offer such a unique mix of natural beauty and historical interest. Why not come see for yourself - and do remember to bring your camera with you. The owners run a photo competition for guests with a free weekend at this cottage or Kath's Cottage canterbury (property 228463) as th |

Peaceful, uncrowded and still largely devoted to farming, this is one of England’s most unspoilt counties, as you’ll discover during a break in one of our holiday cottages in Shropshire. Take a walk on the Long Mynd a dramatic ridge which stands high over the landscape, then pop in to the small village of Church Stretton which nestles in the valley below for a hearty tea.
The county town of Shrewsbury sits on a hill almost completely surrounded by a loop in the river Severn. Here you’ll find Elizabethan timber-framed buildings and handsome Georgian terraces. Shropshire even has its own centre of gastronomy in the charming town of Ludlow, which boasts a number of Michelin starred restaurants as well as a profusion of specialist food shops. The splendid Norman castle at Ludlow is also well worth a visit, as is nearby Stokesay Castle, both within a short drive of our holiday cottages in Shropshire.
Seeing Shropshire today it’s hard to believe it was actually the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. You can see where it all started at Ironbridge Gorge. Don’t miss Blists Hill, which recreates life at the turn of the twentieth century.
